Assisted-Reproduction Centre

The project aimed to equip the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Center with new facilities dedicated to assisted reproductive treatment. These additions to the Sainte-Justine Hospital will enhance the institution's expertise, allowing a thorough integration of services for mothers and children. The new spaces include laboratories, treatment rooms, a recovery area, consultation rooms, and offices. Due to the sensitivity of embryos during handling, special attention is required during the collection and fertilization phases. Specific measures have been implemented to ensure an increased success rate. Our team collaborated with the medical professionals and experts from the institution to design a plan that effectively addresses various project-related constraints. Leveraging our field experience, we combined laboratory design expertise with hospital environment design. The team supported the project leaders and added value to the program established by the institution.

Several technical constraints were given special consideration, such as the manipulation of liquid nitrogen for the transportation of eggs and sperm, strict control of ultraviolet light in the laboratory, a sequential confinement cascade according to procedures, anti-vibration equipment, site access management, and coordination with other ongoing projects. The layout also includes a central circulation corridor on the construction site, regardless of a surgery room below, with aseptic and viral isolation measures planned from the outset. This ensures a safe and comfortable environment, guaranteeing a positive experience for patients and users.
